For example: I pointed it at Venus (brightest object in the night sky after the moon) and Pluto (not visible to the naked eye) happened to be very nearby and THE APPLICATION SHOWS PLUTO BRIGHTER AND BIGGER THAN VENUS!!! WTF? How should one identify an unknown object if the relative brightness isn't accurate? 3) Unnecessary "features" make viewing difficult/distracting. 2) Does not display object "relative brightness" that is true to the sky. Other star chart apps are perfectly calibrated. Problems: 1) Not accurate to the sky (more than 10 degrees off in altitude and azimuth) and calibration function does not work. This app is beautiful, however it is not useful or accurate for actual star identification. You can paint a turd, but it's still a piece of crap. Again, it's a beautiful, smooth and well built app with functionality, but there are many things that could be added. Another criticism is that the app does not have the ability to overlay the camera into the real-time augmented reality mode. Also adding the option of local time would be beneficial, not that there is anything wrong with GMT but a local option would be nice. For example, if I wanted to see all objects visible to the naked eye 10 days into the future at 5AM it would be great. It would be nice to have the ability to filter objects based on their visibility or magnitude, and useful to have this built into a search function. The number of satellites is limited as well the number of comets listed is about a fraction of what really should be out there. My biggest complaints are that it is difficult to fast forward in time to see the future positions of objects. It is very "pretty" and useful for finding various objects in the night sky. You will see a bar filling on the screen.Ĭontinue rotating until the bar fills and says complete.I'm an astronomy enthusiast and purchased this when it was on sale! It was far cheaper than getting the regular version and buying the add-ons (I hate in app purchases).
